Edgar Cobián (Guadalajara, Mexico, 1978) He has a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Guadalajara. Founding member of the Collective for Artistic Action and Creation (2001-2004). He was a fellow of the Young Creators Program of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts, FONCA (2011-2012), and a member of the Gabinete Homo-Extraterrestre collective.

His work encompasses various media such as: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video, and music. This has been exhibited in spaces such as: TinShedsGallery (Sydney, Australia); KasteelOud-Rekem (Liden, Belgium); Diablo Rosso Gallery (Panama); MCCLA (San Francisco, CA); Death Be Kind Gallery (Melbourne, Australia); CaseyKaplan Gallery (New York, NY); Triangle Project Space (San Antonio, TX); Zapopan Art Museum (Zapopan, Mexico); Raúl Anguiano Museum (Guadalajara, Mexico); Clemente Jacqs Laboratory. (Guadalajara, Mexico) and Casa del Lago (Mexico City).

Power, energy, critical capacity and subjectivity are issues present in the work of Edgar Cobián, and in his creative processes. During his residency at the José Clemente Orozco Workshop Museum, these notions were detonated from a series of events (essays, sketches, references, works) closely related to politics. And above all, with a philosophical background that emphasized our relationship with a system that configures us, and which we welcome.
